Family Courts in the Arab World - The Current Situation, Challenges and Avenues for Development

The Institute for Finance and Governance, in partnership with the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights and the Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace, organized a regional workshop titled “Family Courts in the Arab World – The Current Situation, Challenges and Avenues for Development” on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at ESA Business School in Beirut.

The workshop brought together senior policymakers, legal experts, religious leaders, and representatives of international institutions to examine the current landscape of family courts across the Arab region, identify key challenges, and explore avenues for reform and development. The program featured opening remarks from distinguished speakers, followed by engaging discussions and a networking coffee reception.

This initiative reflected IFG’s continued commitment to advancing governance, human rights, and constructive policy dialogue in Lebanon and the wider region.
